Silence Review

Martin Scorsese’s modern masterpiece was almost all I had hoped it would be. Silence is the religious drama about Christian missionaries in Japan in the 1600’s. they are violently tortured until they renounce their faith. Silence is one of the most beautiful shot and most gorgeous films I saw all year. The film is a bit long, but not at the end. The ending had some editing problems and he began telling and not showing. The acting from the three leads , Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver, and Liam Nieson all kill in their performances and casting. The rest of the cast which I was not aware of all do a fantastic job and I was lost in a cinematic world of Martin Scorsese. The original cut was near four hours and Paramount would not release that cut. All in all I loved this movie, but it may not be for all movie viewers, but for anyone wanting to see the master at work on a true passion price of cinema. 4/5
